Instrumental Music
St Peters has expanded its instrumental program over the last few years to encourage a love of music and give students the chance to explore new concepts through instrumental tuition.
St Peters offers private tuition from Year 5 in the following instruments:
- Piano
- Guitar
- Trumpet
- Saxophone
|
- Flute
- Clarinet
- Drums and Percussion

Small ensembles are formed from students learning instruments and performances and eisteddfods are part of the instrumental calendar.
This encourages teamwork and allows students to gain valuable insights into performance skills that should enhance their musical journey through Secondary © Brisbane Catholic Education, St Peter’s Catholic Primary School (2024)
school.
Choirs
The Choirs at St Peter's are well established and comprise of both boys and girls from Years 4 to 6, learning and enhancing their skills in different areas of vocal work and performance. Junior Choir consists of students from Year 4, and Senior Choir consists of students from Years 5 and 6.
There are no prerequisites for joining either choir, just a love of singing and the performing arts and dedication to weekly rehearsals.
The choristers at St Peter’s perform annually at events such as the Jubilate Deo Choral Day and The Queensland Catholic Schools and Colleges Music Festival.
St Peter’s Dance Troupe
Established in 2006, the Dance Troupe at our school brings together students from Years 2 to 6, where they have the opportunity to learn and refine their dance skills across a variety of styles. The program is divided into two groups: the Junior Dance Troupe (Years 2 and 3) and the Senior Dance Troupe (Years 4, 5, and 6).
No prior dance experience is required. Students simply need a passion for the performing arts and a commitment to the program. The support of dedicated parents and staff has contributed to the Dance Troupe becoming a beloved extracurricular activity at our school.
In addition to the dance troupe, we are proud to offer both Junior and Senior Eisteddfod teams for students in Years 2-6. These teams give talented dancers the opportunity to perform jazz and lyrical routines at local Eisteddfods. Participation is based on an audition process, where students demonstrate their enthusiasm and skill in these dynamic dance styles. It's an excellent opportunity for students to hone their performance abilities while being part of a creative, supportive team.
